LEADERSHIP AND EFFICIENCIES INC.
Here at Columbia, we are serious about what we do. We take it personally because strong leadership and creating efficiencies is who we are — it’s our purpose.
Our philosophy is to be courageous and unafraid of what the future brings. We charge ahead, armed with the timeless values passed on from the leaders who shaped us.
WE BUILD CHARACTER-BASED LEADERSHIP
QUALITY IS INVIOLATE, NO SUCH THING AS A “SHORTCUT”
WE ARE NEVER ABOVE PERFORMING ANY TASK TO GET THE JOB DONE
WE TAKE PRIDE IN TEACHING OTHERS
Gary Quinton, President
These values were instilled in our founder, Gary Quinton, at a young age while working at his father’s retail butcher shop in New York. After his butcher apprenticeship was complete, coinciding with his High School Graduation, he served two enlistments in the U.S Air Force where he was trained in logistics.
Returning from the service, Gary utilized the GI Bill to become the first in his family to earn a college degree, a Bachelor of Science (Magna Cum Laude) in Transportation Planning & Management. Armed with his character, work ethic, and degree in hand, Gary was selected to enter a prestigious management training program for FedEx Express.
Upon successful completion of the management program Gary was promoted to positions of increased leadership responsibility that included assignments in express air operations at JFK, O’Hare, and Logan Airports, in addition to Regional Leadership roles for express courier operations in the Northeast & Midwest. He has performed corporate leadership roles at Sears Holdings Corporation for Specialized Transportation, Carrier Management, and Home Delivery of big ticket items. This led to national leadership roles in the private sector for best in class Home Delivery organizations.
Prior to creating Columbia Leadership & Efficiencies Inc, Gary led national outbound operations at W.W. Grainger, which included all transportation modes across 12 Distribution Centers and 254 Retail Branches.
It’s the above experience, hard work, and Gary’s conscientious character that proudly represents the Columbia Brand.
Patrick McKeown, Executive Vice President
Senior Master Sergeant Patrick McKeown, (USAF Retired), brings over 25 years of professional leadership in logistics. Pat and Gary were stationed together in the Pacific Theatre where they both excelled as young Airmen with their like-minded work ethic. While Gary left the Air Force after two enlistments, Pat made it a career. However, their appreciation for leadership and logistics is what maintained their friendship, culminating in a business partnership today.
Pat’s military career included nine duty stations, various leadership positions, and multiple deployments in support of conflicts including Operations Desert Shield, Restore Hope, Allied Force, Enduring Freedom, and Iraqi Freedom. In 2003 he was selected over 910 candidates for the Logistics Education Advancement Program at the Pentagon. There he worked with the top logistics professionals in the military, formulating policy, assessing war plans, identifying deficiencies, and was a member of the Crisis Action Team. Pat managed critical logistics support for operations in Iraq and Afghanistan as well as coordinating hurricane relief efforts. His significant contributions and accomplishments were recognized with multiple awards including the Defense Meritorious Service Medal and selection as the Joint Chiefs of Staff Senior Enlisted Performer of the Year.
Throughout his career Pat recognized the need to complete his academic education. Whenever possible he took college classes during his off-duty time and earned an Associate’s Degree in Logistics Management and a Bachelor of Science (Summa Cum Laude) in Business Administration.
